Welcome to my first ever crazy house blog! I’m not kidding being a mom with ADHD raising kids with additional needs gets pretty insane, so I’m sharing it all with you. #Noholdingback
I searched online for blogs and vlogs for ideas on how other parents in similar situations deal with it all when some days are rainy, then suddenly all butterflies and rainbows then “BAM” a full-blown blizzard explodes out of nowhere! Or your day is just so chaotic you forgot your great aunt was sweet enough to bake you a meat pie that you dump on the lazy-boy along with everything else you had in your arms to deal with a meltdown because you just got home. Left to find a day or two later. I’m sure if your reading this you can totally relate; am I right? Nothing I’ve found really dug deep into the reality of what it’s really like. Mind you I did find a few like “scary mommy” and my favourite “The Autism Dad” by Rob Gorski. Rob is by far my superhero, he’s an amazing dad and the inspiration for my blog.
But it’s so much more then appointments, therapies, PECs that you have to stay up all night printing, laminating and cutting out; but you hid the scissors, because someone is trying to “simposide” someone (I still haven’t figured out what that means #speechdelay) none the less your preparations are put on hold because exhaustion has taken over. The unbelievable abundance of paperwork that requires you to make organised binders and cross all your fingers that you grabbed the right binder for the correct child for the right appointment. Crap your late…#%# There’s the outside the box thinking, questions, damage control, outburst, meltdowns, reward charts, behavior charts, medication, hugs, reassurances, IEPs, respite that’s impossible to get, because well you know no one is you and the list goes on…
Now that my ranting is out of the way I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Tammy, I’m 37, divorced, recently been diagnosed with ADHD & anxiety disorder. Recovering from depression and telling you my story about how I’m finding my strength to move on, climbing out of my hole and surviving this crazy life and how I’m dealing with it all. With some interesting tricks, I’ve learned along the way. We live in a small house in a small city in Ontario, Canada with my 10-year-old daughter #skatergirl for skate Canada with CAP’s, migraines, anxiety, and un-diagnosed ASD/SPD!? well because you know she’s a girl… My 14-year-old son #Atypicalteenager and video gamer with autism, ADHD, ODD, SPD and minor brain damage from childbirth. As crazy as my life already is I’ve taken in a young lady when she just turned 18, she will now be turning 20 now. (#AnimeNerd) with high functioning Asperger’s, self-harm, high anxiety and obsessions who I love like my own daughter since I’ve known her since she was about 8 years old. We also have 3 stinky guinea pigs Sky, Salami and Bean and 4 goldfish, but I wouldn’t change this crazy house for the world.
